A former general manager of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has reportedly fallen victim to a real estate fraud in the Bhondsi area of Gurugram. Meena Ahuja, a retired SAIL official, claims that she was defrauded of over Rs 20 lakh after purchasing a plot in Ryan Enclave from Baldev Raj in 2014.
However, the plot she had purchased was sold to someone else after Baldev Raj’s death in 2019. Left with no other options, Ahuja approached Baldev Raj’s wife, who presented her with two choices: either receive a refund or accept a plot of equal size in Alipur.
In an unexpected turn of events, Ahuja was informed in April 2023 that she would need to accept another plot, this time in Rithoj village. It was later revealed that Baldev Raj’s wife had also sold this land to a builder.
Unable to find a satisfactory resolution, Ahuja decided to take legal action and reported the fraud to the authorities. An FIR has been lodged against Baldev Raj’s wife and others involved, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, at Bhondsi Police Station.
The police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the appropriate legal actions in response to the fraud.
